MARANGU ROUTE
The only Kilimanjaro route with hut lodging along the way!
HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO CLIMB THE MARANGU ROUTE?
The Marangu Route is favored by many because it is thought to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope and direct path.
However the short time frame and the gradual and steady ascent do not include a 'walk high, sleep low' profile making altitude acclimatization difficult.
The Marangu Route is also less scenic than any of the other routes because the ascent and descent are along the same path, also making it the most crowded route.
There are no parts on the route that require any technical climbing skills.
Because many climbers try to climb the Marangu Route in only 5 days and fail because of poor acclimatization, it has the lowest summit success rate. Therefore our Marangu itinerary includes a minimum of 6 days.
The total Marangu Route distance is approximately 70 kilometers from gate to gate.
If you are concerned about climbing the Great Barranco Wall then this might be the route for you!
